Key outputs from the first six months of INTAROS

The INTAROS Steering Committee met at IOPAN premises in Sopot, Poland on June 9th and 10th 2017. They looked back at the activities carried out over the first six months of the project and planned for the next six months.  Some of the key results of the first six months are:

  • Completion and delivery of the Initial Observations Requirements document.  We would appreciate any comments or suggestions you might have. This is essentially a working document so will be updated over the lifetime of the project.
  • Completion of the Data Management Plan. This document describes how new datasets collected or generated by partners during the project will be managed according to the FAIR guidelines for data management in H2020
  • Organisation of the 1st stakeholder workshop: this took place on May 2nd at EuroGOOS premises in Brussels and saw more than 25 people take part. The focus for this workshop was on representatives of high-level scientific organisations, but the stakeholder group will be made broader as the project proceeds. Their input contributed to the initial observations requirements.
  • Completion of the Dissemination Plan: It is important to raise awareness of the project among a wide number of stakeholders. This document outlines how INTAROS will achieve this.

A major piece of work is now being undertaken to assess of the existing Arctic in situ observing systems, in situ data collections, and satellite products. This will help in assessing the robustness and sustainability of the existing systems and will highlight gaps in the system.
